Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

Rhineland-Palatinate Hesse Lower Saxony Brandenburg Mecklenburg-West Pomerania Saxony-Anhalt Saxony Schleswig-Holstein Saarland Bavaria Baden-Württemberg County of Müritz
The broad landscape extends beneath the arch of the sky, decorated with a pattern of northern clouds. The view encompasses gentle hills, beech and pine woods snuggling – dark and secretive – into the landscape, and fields that vanish from view on the horizon. A landscape that alternates between lushness and barrenness, and is always defiant.
Here on the watershed between the North Sea and the Baltic are the sources of the Rivers Havel and Peene, and here lies Lake Müritz, Germany’s biggest inland lake that gives the region its name and is in the middle of Mecklenburg’s Lakelands. Müritz National Park makes the region into one of the biggest bird and nature reserves in Europe.

Over 70,000 inhabitants populate the incredibly beautiful countryside of the County of Müritz; they mostly earn their living from crafts and trades, recreational industries, processing industry, and agriculture and forestry.

Time stands still in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Here you can enjoy each moment without hurrying, and simply relax. 1,700 km of beaches and cliffs, and 2,000 lakes and crystal clear rivers are an invitation to go bathing, sailing, surfing and paddling.
Quaint villages and elegant spas, monumental brick churches and fairytale castles – this stretch of country has many treasures. Modern facilities for health cures, sports and beauty, and Germany’s cleanest air and longest hours of sunshine all promise balm for body and soul.
At the same time, no other region in the world has been so completely modernised in such a short time. The world’s most up-to-date telecommunications infrastructure has been installed: situated between two conurbations – Hamburg and Berlin, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania with its completely rebuilt Baltic ports and with its wealthy population of way over 20 million living within a radius of just 550 km, is an ideal location for transport and logistics.
The oldest university in Northern Europe and an abundance of modern, highly innovative research and development businesses make this area into one of the most dynamic regions in the high-tech, bio-tech and medi-tech fields.
