Here on the watershed between the North Sea and the Baltic are the sources of the Rivers Havel and Peene, and here lies Lake Müritz, Germany’s biggest inland lake that gives the region its name and is in the middle of Mecklenburg’s Lakelands. Müritz National Park makes the region into one of the biggest bird and nature reserves in Europe.
